Hey, I’m Karis.
I’m a licensed professional counselor.
I work with individuals of all ages who are experiencing grief, navigating life transitions, and recovering from trauma.
What You Can Expect
Trauma-Informed
It’s easy to fall into survival mode without even realizing it. When we experience trauma or chronic stress, simply getting through the day can start to feel normal. Understanding why our minds and bodies respond the way they do can help us move beyond survival and begin finding new ways to care for ourselves and connect with the people we love.
Self-Compassion
“Give yourself grace.” You will probably hear me say this over and over again. I believe having compassion for yourself is an important aspect of therapy. Re-writing your shame narrative into one that is resilient will serve you much more in this process.
A Little About Me
I believe being human together matters in therapy, too. Outside of the therapy room, you can usually find me with my Kindle nearby, spending time with my family, friends, and dog, or drinking coffee that I absolutely could have made with my unnecessarily elaborate setup at home. I love finding reasons to laugh. I don’t take myself too seriously, and you can expect there to be room for humor and authenticity in our work together—even when we’re talking about the hard stuff.
“I can be changed by what happens to me, but I refuse to be reduced by it.”

This really varies depending on the person and the issue(s) we are addressing in therapy. Some individuals find themselves completing therapy in 3-4 months, while others want more long-term care. Either way, my door is always open.
